Bought the Dark Tower audiobook set, wasted $85 on this mess

I really wanted to love the Dark Tower adaptation hype, so I grabbed the full audiobook collection last month for $85. The narrator switches voices between books and it drove me crazy, plus the story drags so much in book 4 that I stopped halfway. The movie was bad too, but at least it was only 2 hours of my life. Has anyone else shelled out big money on a book set and then felt ripped off by how it translated on screen?

Man, you gotta skip book 4 and just read the graphic novels instead, way cheaper.

Damn, I gotta push back on that one @zara447. Skipping book 4 is like skipping the best part of a meal because the bread was stale. Wizard and Glass is where Roland actually becomes a real person to me, the whole backstory with Susan feels way more raw than anything in the movie or the graphic novels. Yeah, it drags in the middle, but that slow burn makes the ending hit WAY harder. And honestly, the audiobook voice switches are annoying as hell, but that's on the publishers, not the story itself. I get the frustration with the $85, but telling people to skip the heart of the series just so they don't get bored? That feels like cheap advice for a book that's supposed to be a long haul.
