I finally realized I was setting my torch wrong for years on thick plate

I was doing a big repair on a boiler drum in Toledo, and my cut was just taking forever and leaving a nasty, uneven edge. An old timer named Frank saw me struggling and asked if I was using a 1/4 inch gap. I was using maybe half that, thinking it was better. He had me open it up, and the cut went through that 2-inch plate like butter. Has anyone else had a similar 'aha' moment with their torch settings?

Honestly, I bet the same idea applies to your gas pressure being way too low.

Wait, are you saying I need to fix my gas pressure AND my life choices at the same time? That feels like a lot of personal growth for one afternoon.
