Why does everyone at my local game night call expansions 'content packs'?

Honestly, it bugs me more than it should. I was at the Wednesday night meetup at The Game Shelf in Austin and this newer guy kept calling the Wingspan expansions 'content packs' like it's a video game DLC. These are physical boxes with actual pieces and rulebooks, not a download. Has anyone else noticed this trend creeping into board game talk?

Told the guy at my table it's called a box, not a pack. Worked fine.

Read something the other day about how in the UK they call it a "packet" and in the US it's a "pack" or "box" depending on the sport. Guess you were just setting the record straight, @gavin_knight39. Probably saved that guy from looking like a total newbie next time he tries to buy something. I've had to do that before at card shows, it's weird how people get so stuck on the wrong word.
