PSA: I won a 6-player game of Root by only ever playing the Vagabond
My group in Austin said it was a terrible strategy, but after three turns of just hoarding items and scoring points from ruins, I somehow pulled it off. Has anyone else found a weirdly effective 'bad' strategy in a complex game?

That "hoarding items and scoring points from ruins" thing is exactly how I won with the Vagabond once. Everyone was so busy fighting they just left me alone.

Wait, you won as the Vagabond? That's wild, I've never seen that happen before lol. Everyone always gangs up on them in our games. How many items did you even have by the end? That sounds like the most chill victory ever, just sneaking around while everyone else is at war.

Yeah, it was pretty much exactly what @gonzalez.grant said... I just kept my head down and picked up everything nobody was using. I ended the game with like, eight items? Mostly just junk from empty clearings. It feels less like a big win and more like everyone else forgot I was even playing... which is kind of sad when you think about it. I basically won by being the board game equivalent of a piece of furniture.
