My friend's board game apology was more complex than the game itself

We were playing a heavy strategy game, and he made a play that ruined my plan. Instead of just saying sorry, he wrote a formal letter of regret citing specific game mechanics. It took longer to read than our last round. I'm not sure if this is dedication or insanity. What's the most over-the-top reaction you've seen to a board game play?

That's some serious dedication to guilt. I once saw a player bring a notary to witness a formal apology for breaking a game night truce.

At the board game cafe downtown, I watched a player create a slideshow to say sorry for stealing a resource. It had graphs and everything. Your friend's letter sounds just as bad. Some people take these games way too seriously. I feel for you, having to sit through that instead of just playing.
