My first attempt at metal minis went sideways fast
I tried painting a Reaper Bones mini with just craft paint last weekend and it peeled off like sunburn after one night. The acrylic just would not stick to the plastic no matter how thin I made it. I ended up stripping the whole thing with Simple Green and starting over with a proper primer. Has anyone else had that problem with Bones plastic specifically?

That Bones plastic is super slick like a wax candle sometimes. A light sanding with fine grit sandpaper before priming helps the paint grab on to the surface way better.

Finleyl55 hit the nail on the head. I had the same issue with a Bones wizard mini I got last summer. The plastic felt greasy right out of the package, and my first coat of primer just slid right off in patches. A quick pass with some 400 grit sandpaper and a wash with dish soap made all the difference. The paint stuck like it should after that.
