That day I cracked a 200 pound anvil with a bad heat
Was working on a big wagon wheel rim last Tuesday, got the steel too hot and when I set it on the anvil, the face split right down the middle. Anyone else ever ruined a good anvil from a rookie mistake like that?

@wendy_bell83 did you check the anvil for cracks before heating it up?

Oh my GOD I can't believe you cracked a 200 pound anvil! That is a MASSIVE chunk of iron to destroy like that. I've never heard of an anvil splitting from heat transfer before, that is truly horrifying. Honestly, it's a reminder that even the most solid tools have their limits if you're not careful. I bet you felt that in your bones when it happened.
