Saw my uncle work a coal forge my whole life. Just got a perfect weld with my gas forge. Huge moment for me.

Totally, switching to gas was a WAY better call for my backyard setup.

Man, that coal dust gets into everything (my hair, the dog's fur, somehow always in my shoes). Spending half your time just managing the fire instead of actually working the metal gets old fast. The switch to gas lets you just turn a knob and get right to the fun part, you know? So much more time for the actual craft, which is the whole point.
