Just realized I've been wasting half my garlic cloves for years

Read in some random food blog that you can just smash garlic with the flat of your knife and the skin comes right off in 2 seconds instead of picking at it. Tried it on 8 cloves for dinner tonight and it actually worked every time anyone else have a better way to peel that stuff?

Peeling garlic ain't exactly rocket science though. Been doing the smash method for years, works fine. But really, is fumbling with a clove for an extra 10 seconds that big a deal in the grand scheme of things? Plenty of bigger problems in life than sticky garlic skin. Guess if you're cooking a ton of it every day it might matter. Otherwise feels like a solution looking for a problem.
