A talk with my regular, Mr. Ellis, about his first haircut changed my whole week
He came in yesterday and told me his first haircut was from his grandpa in 1963, using just clippers and a comb on their porch. He said the feeling of trust and calm was what stuck with him, not the cut itself. I realized I sometimes rush through the quiet parts, like the hot towel or the neck shave, to get to the next client. That chat made me slow down and really focus on the person in my chair today. Has anyone else had a client share a story that made you change a small part of your routine?

Oh man, now I gotta worry about my handshake grip too? Thanks for that. Guess I'll be practicing on the door handles on my way out. Next thing you know, someone's grandpa story is gonna make me rethink how I hold a coffee cup.
