My aunt swore I was overmixing my banana bread... she was right
So my Aunt Carol has been baking for like 40 years, and last week she watched me make my banana bread and said I was mixing it way too long. I thought she was just being old school and picky. I beat that batter for a good 3 minutes until it was super smooth. The loaf came out dense and kinda tough, not fluffy at all. She showed me her method where you only mix until the flour disappears, maybe 30 seconds max. The difference was night and day, so much lighter. Has anyone else had a family member give you advice that turned out to be totally on point?

Isn't it funny how our elders usually know what they're talking about?

lane.angela I feel this so hard. My grandma kept telling me to put money away for a rainy day when I was in my twenties and I blew it off. Now I'm finally seeing how she was just looking out for me with that boring advice. The older folks in my life have this way of just knowing what's gonna happen before it does cause they've already lived through it. It's humbling to admit they were right all along but I'm getting there.
