Tried to fix a cracked pie crust for 2 hours straight

Had a lemon meringue pie last Saturday. Pulled the crust out and there was a hairline crack in the bottom. Spent an hour trying to patch it with extra dough bits and egg wash. Then another hour just staring and re-rolling scraps. Finally gave up and blind baked it anyway. Crust turned out perfect. Has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on a crust that ended up fine?
