A raccoon family in my Atlanta yard made me rethink my compost setup completely.

Man I don't know, feels like people are making this out to be a bigger deal than it is. Raccoons are just being raccoons, they'll move on if there's nothing easy to grab. Unless they've actually set up camp under your porch I wouldn't start worrying about attic invasions and all that.

Honestly, I'd worry less about the compost and more about them moving in. I mean, once they find a good food spot they'll try to nest nearby, like in your attic or under a deck. That's a way bigger headache than just fixing a bin.
