Spent 6 hours trying to find a water source on the PCT near San Jacinto

It was already getting dark and I had run through 3 liters by 4pm. My map showed a seasonal creek but it was totally dry when I got there. Ended up backtracking 2 miles to a ranger station I passed earlier. Should have just asked at the start instead of assuming.

@schoenfeld_tim I heard a thru-hiker say the PCT near San Jacinto is notorious for false springs on maps because of the drought years changing things. @cameron_chen is right that packing extra water is usually a safer bet.

Nah, this is on you for not carrying enough water for that stretch. The PCT has tons of dry sections, you gotta plan for the worst case and that means packing more than you think you need.
