A prospect in manufacturing told me my case studies were 'too fluffy' and needed hard numbers, so I started adding specific cost savings and production increases like 'reduced downtime by 18%' to every one.

Has anyone else had a client basically rewrite their content rules for them?

Hard numbers are good, but getting that granular feels like overkill. Most people just skim that stuff anyway. If a client saved money, saying they saved money is usually enough.

Oh man, that's a win honestly. Getting that direct feedback is gold. I'd just be careful about adding the exact same metric to every single case study. It can start to sound fake if every client saved exactly 18%. Mix up the types of numbers you share.

That reminds me of a time a client asked for way more technical specs in our product descriptions. We went from saying "fast and reliable" to listing exact processor speeds and load times, which honestly made the page look like a robot wrote it. The funny part is, their own customers started complaining the new info was too confusing! Sometimes the client's idea of what works isn't what their audience actually wants to read. You gotta find a middle ground that keeps everyone happy.
