Went to an avionics shop in Tucson and saw a bench setup that changed my mind
Dropped by a friend's shop in Tucson last Tuesday to borrow a crimp tool. He had a simple 3-foot test bench with a used 429 bus analyzer bolted to it, nothing fancy. But he had labels on every cable and a magnetic parts tray for each connector type. I spent 20 minutes watching him trace a bad solder joint on an old VOR unit, and his whole area made sense. Have any of you set up a dedicated test station that actually makes you faster, or do you just work wherever you land?

Labels just slow me down, I find stuff by feel.
