Learned a new trick for tracing intermittent faults on the bench last Wednesday
An older guy at the shop showed me how to use a signal injector probe to find a broken wire in a harness that I'd been chasing for over 3 hours, has anyone else tried this method instead of just wiggling wires?

Honestly, what nobody mentions is that trick works way better if you ground the probe to the actual chassis of the car instead of the harness ground. Learned that the hard way after chasing ghosts for an hour.

Did that trick work on anything other than simple point-to-point wires or can it handle complex harnesses too? I'm thinking about trying it myself but I've got a 2007 Ford with like 18 different splices in the engine bay alone. Those harnesses are a nightmare when you're chasing a drop on a MIL circuit. Did you have to invest in a high-end probe or does a cheap one from Harbor Freight get the job done? I've burned too many hours jiggling wires and praying.
