Dropped $450 on a cordless impact and it barely spins a lug nut
Tbh I should have known better than to buy the off brand from a hardware store, but I figured for light use itd hold up. Has anyone else had luck with cheaper impacts or am I just cursed with bad choices?

Wait is it REALLY stripping lugs or just needs the battery charged first?

Damn, that stinks! I had the same thing happen with a cheap cordless drill a while back. What finally worked for me was swapping to a smaller, 3/8 inch impact instead of the big 1/2 inch one, and making sure the battery was fully topped off, not just kinda charged. Also, I hit the lug with a breaker bar first to crack it loose, then used the impact to spin it off the rest of the way.
