A veteran tech at our shop in Boise told me I was over-torquing aluminum oil pan plugs, which was causing thread galling.
He showed me how to use a torque wrench set to 18 ft-lbs and a dab of anti-seize, and I haven't stripped a single one in the 6 months since, so what other small torque specs do you guys always double-check?

Yeah I thought the same thing, but honestly his method just works.

Wait, 18 ft-lbs on an aluminum oil pan plug? That sounds crazy high, man. I've always done them at like 12-15 ft-lbs max, even with anti-seize. Are you sure he didn't mean inch-pounds? I'd be terrified of cracking the pan.
