Found out my old Spirograph set is worth $200 now

My old Lite-Brite from the 90s is probably sitting in a landfill right now, but knowing my luck the one I had was the rare "missing peg" variant worth nothing anyway. Ngl, I could barely draw a straight line with a ruler back then, so my Spirograph just ended up as a tangled mess of ink and frustration. Tbh I’m kinda relieved I didn’t keep it because I’d probably just stare at it and feel bad about the $200 I could’ve had instead of a dusty box of plastic gears. Honestly, the only thing I’ve ever found in an attic that turned out valuable was a half-eaten bag of chips from 1987.

My neighbor called me a glass house dweller after my smart lock story

Totally get where you're coming from, that feeling of being watched is super creepy. It's a lot of convenience for giving up that much privacy for sure.

Just got back from the Fermentation Fest in Asheville and I'm kinda freaked out about something I saw

Seen the same thing at a local farmer's market, it was nasty.

Tried using a cheap 4-inch grinder with a flap disc to clean up weld spatter on a tight flange job last Thursday

James_Butler brought up that "trade-off, speed for reach and disc life" thing and I gotta say I think people are overthinking this. You spent what, like 15 bucks on discs to save 20 minutes? That's a win in my book. I mean yeah the small discs wear out fast on stainless but that's just physics, you can't expect a 4-inch disc to last as long as a 7-inch one. People act like burning through a few flap discs is some kind of crisis but it's really not that deep. You either pay with time chipping by hand or pay with discs getting the job done faster. Seems like a simple choice to me.

Switched from manual drafting to CAD for good after a 3-day deadline disaster

Did you find it hard to get back to hand drafting after that? My moment was when I had to redo a full set of plans because of ONE smudge on a stair section, and I've barely touched a pencil since.
