Warning: After my last job, I know new paint formulas are worse than the old ones.

The clear coat started peeling in months, not years like it used to.

Had the same thing happen on my truck last year. The clear coat just flaked off after a few months. Tbh, I was pretty annoyed because it looked terrible. Ended up sanding it all down and using a different brand with older reviews. That stuff has held up for over a year now with no issues. Makes you wonder why they changed the formulas in the first place.

Switched to an old-school brand, no issues since.

@thomas584 That's exactly the right move. It seems like a lot of these newer companies are cutting corners to save money, and the product just doesn't last. They probably changed the formula to make it cheaper to produce, but then it fails on the customer. Going with a brand that's been around forever usually means they haven't messed with what works. My neighbor had the same peeling issue and his fix was the same, sand and use the old reliable stuff. It's frustrating we have to go backwards to get quality.
