TIL a painter told me my clear coat was too thick and it messed up our whole flow
He said I was laying it on like syrup and causing runs that took forever to sand out. I cut back by about 20% and now I finish panels in half the time with way less rework. Anyone else get feedback that totally changed their spraying technique?

Jumped into this same trap years ago. Thick clear coat feels like insurance, but it just makes more work for you later. Backing off the fluid knob like @jesse290 says is exactly right. I also started checking my tip distance more often. If I get too close with heavy fluid, it lays on like glass and traps air. One more thing that helped me was warming the clear in hot water before mixing. It flows way thinner without needing to add reducer and you can keep a nice wet coat without piling it up.

Cut your fluid knob back even more than 20% and watch how fast you get clean finishes.
