Debate: Should you paint a car with the doors on or off? Had a 2017 Civic last month where I left them on and got overspray lines at the hinges.

Spent extra time masking everything off and still ended up with a tiny line where the hinge met the door jamb. Customer didnt notice until the third day. Now I wonder if pulling doors is worth the extra labor even though it risks alignment issues. What do you guys usually do on a full respray?

I read on an autobody forum that some guys swear by pulling doors because they'd rather deal with alignment than risk hinge lines. Honestly, the extra hour of labor is worth it to me just to avoid that awkward call from the customer.

@grant826 Totally get that. Door alignment is a nightmare once you start messing with hinge lines. I'd rather spend the extra hour upfront than deal with that angry customer call later. Plus, a few shims here and there can save a whole lot of headache down the road.
