I used to write off paper maps, then my phone died on a road trip
For years I only used GPS apps. Last July I drove from Austin to Santa Fe and my phone died near Tucumcari with no charger. I stopped at a gas station and bought a paper map for $8. It took me 15 minutes to figure out the route, but I noticed two scenic stops I would have missed. Now I keep a folded map in the glovebox for every long drive. Has anyone else switched back to paper after a tech fail?

Paper maps just work. Always have a backup.
