Heard a lady at the hardware store say she does her own brake pads...

I used to think paying a mechanic for brake jobs was just the smart way to go. Then I overheard this older woman at the Ace in Arlington tell the cashier she saves $180 a pop doing hers in the driveway. I asked her about it and she walked me through the whole thing in like 3 minutes. Now I just did my front pads for $45 and it took me maybe 90 minutes. Anyone else ever get convinced to try something by a complete stranger at a store?

Ha! Same here, always thought it was way too complicated until some random guy at AutoZone changed my mind.

Right? It's crazy how much of life is like that. You just need someone to point you in the right direction and suddenly it all clicks. I feel like most of the stuff we think is hard is really just hidden behind a bad first experience or no one showing you the simple trick.
