Warning: I hit 1,000 volunteer hours at the local dig site and found less than I expected

Honestly, I logged 1,000 hours over 3 summers at the Wilson Creek site in Texas and only found 3 arrowheads and a broken pot shard. It made me realize how much patience real archaeology takes, not the Indiana Jones stuff. Has anyone else put in major time and come up with almost nothing?

Made me realize how much patience real archaeology takes" is kind of dramatic though. Its a hobby dig site not a career. People find stuff all the time at those places with way less hours. Maybe you were digging in the wrong spots or not looking close enough. I know a guy who found a full arrowhead in his backyard after 20 minutes of poking around. 1,000 hours and only 3 arrowheads sounds like bad luck sure but also maybe you just werent that good at it yet. Not trying to be harsh but it aint that deep.

@tyler_fox41 finding stuff in your backyard ain't the same as digging for it professionally though.
