Tried using a regular trowel for a dig versus a proper WHS 4-inch pointing trowel
I was helping a friend do some surface scraping at a site in Ohio last weekend, and my old garden trowel kept bending and scraping too wide. Switched to his Marshalltown pointing trowel and could actually define a feature edge without wrecking it. Is there any real use for a hardware store trowel on a dig, or should I just toss mine?

My old garden trowel is basically a modern art sculpture at this point.

Respect the patina. That trowel earned its shape.
