Honestly, I was just helping a friend dig a drainage ditch in his backyard in Flagstaff and we hit a layer of pottery shards about two feet down. Tbh, I thought it was just old trash at first.

Yeah but it's Flagstaff, people have been living there forever. Could just be from some old homestead or something, not like you found a whole tomb.

Remember finding a weird old horseshoe in my backyard last year. Took it to the local history museum on a whim. They had a whole file on my neighborhood and could date it just by the nail holes. Sometimes the boring answer is right, but you gotta check with the people who actually know the area's past.
