Just realized my whole anime watch party was using the wrong subs

We were watching a new episode of Jujutsu Kaisen last week, and a major character line made zero sense. I checked the file and we had the 'speed sub' from a fan group that just guessed the dialogue. I switched to the official Crunchyroll subs and the whole scene clicked. Anyone else had a sub mix-up ruin a big moment?

Oh man, that's the worst. I've had a speed sub completely change a character's motivation before. It makes you question the whole story until you find the right version. Really kills the vibe of a watch party.

That's just how it goes these days with everything being rushed out the door... feels like we're all just skimming the surface of things instead of actually paying attention. Speed subs are just another example of that whole culture where getting it done fast matters more than getting it right. Kind of a bummer when you think about how much time we spend consuming stuff that wasn't even finished properly.
