Appreciation post: The new speed bump on Oak Street
They redid the paving on Oak Street 3 months ago and added a speed bump near the school. I used to hear tires screeching every night around 11 PM from my front porch, now it's silent. Has anyone else noticed traffic patterns changing after a simple fix like that?

Used to be one of those people who thought speed bumps were just annoying and nothing else. Ever since they put that one in near the school, the whole street feels calmer and I actually catch myself driving slower too. Definitely changed my mind about them being useless, lol.

Yeah I was just reading something about how those speed bumps near schools actually cut down on injuries by a lot. Saw a study that said something like crashes drop by 40% or more in areas with them. Makes sense cause you really do have to slow down to like 10 miles an hour or you'll bottom out. It's weird how something so simple can have that big of an effect on how people drive. I used to think they were just a pain too but now I see why they put them in busy spots like that.
