I finally listened to that old plumber about PEX vs copper

My neighbor Bob, who's done plumbing for 30 years, told me to use PEX for my basement reno back in March. I ignored him and went with copper because I thought it was 'proper.' After two leaks from a bad solder joint, I ripped it all out and did PEX in one afternoon. Has anyone else had a pro give advice that you brushed off and regretted?

PEX saved my basement reno too after fighting with copper all day.

Hold up, you learned that lesson the hard way too lol. I spent a whole weekend sweating copper in my crawlspace, burnt my hand twice, and still had a pinhole leak show up three months later. Ripped it all out, got some PEX and a crimp tool, and had the whole thing running again by noon the next day. My old buddy who does this for a living just laughed and said "told you so" when he saw it. Stick with PEX for anything inside the walls man, you can't screw up a crimp ring like you can a torch joint.
