Had to pick between OEM parts and a quality aftermarket set for a Cessna 172 flap actuator last month
The OEM was $380 and the aftermarket was $220 with a better warranty. I went with the aftermarket because the shop I work for has used them for 3 years with zero failures. Has anyone else had good luck with aftermarket flight control parts on GA planes?

Wait, only $220 for an aftermarket flap actuator with a better warranty? Honestly I would have double checked the price tag on that because that sounds almost too good to be true. Tbh most of the aftermarket flight control stuff I've seen for 172s runs closer to $300 plus. Ngl I've been burned by cheap aftermarket parts before but if your shop has three years of zero failures that's a solid track record. I'd say you made the smart call going with the lower price and better coverage.

Three years with zero failures says a lot. That's proof the part works, not just a company talking. I'd take that track record over a big name brand any day.
