Been reading AI-generated summaries on a news site for about 6 months now. They strip out all the nuance and context, leaving you with something that's technically correct but practically useless for anyone who actually understands the topic.

i actually used to think these summaries were a good thing... saved me time, you know? but then i tried to use one for a piece about climate policy and it completely missed the point about who the regulations actually affected. the original article had all these real world examples that explained the trade-offs, but the summary just said "new rules passed." like, that tells me nothing. i had to go back and read the whole thing anyway, so what was even the point.
