Swapped out my old thermostat for a smart one and saw the difference in 10 days
I had one of those basic round dial thermostats that just clicked on and off. My AC was running constantly and my bill was like $180 in July. So I grabbed a Nest for about $130 and set it up myself in 20 minutes. The schedule learning kicked in after a week and my next bill dropped to $140. Has anyone else seen that kind of savings from just switching out a thermostat?

Did you check if your Nest is actually running the AC in cycles instead of just running it nonstop? I had a similar drop when I switched, but the real trick was setting the eco temps right to like 76 when I'm gone and 72 when I'm home. Also make sure the schedule isn't overriding your manual adjustments or it'll just learn the wrong habits.

My first smart thermostat taught itself that I like to crank the AC to 68 and then forget about it, so my savings were basically a lie I told myself. $40 off your bill is way better than the $0 I saved from my old thermostat that thought 78 degrees was a reasonable "cool" setting. Now I just hope my Nest doesn't learn how to open the fridge and order takeout instead.
