Asked ChatGPT to write a Dad Joke for my kid's birthday party... it backfired hard

So last weekend I needed a quick dad joke for my kid's 9th birthday party crowd. I fired up an AI generator, typed 'give me a clean joke about tools'. It spat out this long thing about a hammer and a screwdriver that made no sense. The kids just stared at me. I learned that AI doesn't get human timing or audience vibes at all. Anyone else had an AI comedy fail that bombed worse than mine?

Man I tried that same thing for my nephew's 10th birthday last month. Asked it for a joke about numbers and math since he's really into that stuff. It gave me this crazy long setup about a 7 and an 8 that ended with some weird punchline about infinity signs. The whole room went quiet for like 5 seconds before someone's dad yelled out a knock knock joke to save me. AI just doesn't get that kids need quick setups and clear punchlines that land in under 10 seconds. It's like it thinks every joke needs a whole story arc or something.

Yeah the "whole story arc" thing is spot on. I think the problem is AI doesn't understand pacing or a room full of people. It's like it writes for a silent reader not a live audience where timing is everything.
