Why does nobody talk about using a ratchet strap for a tricky limb pull?

I was working on a pin oak in a tight backyard in Cincinnati last month, and a big limb was hung up on a power line. We couldn't get the bucket truck in. On a whim, I hooked a 2-inch ratchet strap to a solid trunk about 15 feet away and cinched it down on the limb. Gave it a few cranks and the whole thing popped free cleanly, no damage. It took maybe 10 minutes total. I'd always reached for a come-along before, but this was way faster for a medium job. Has anyone else found a simple tool that saved the day like that?

Why I ditched measuring cups and my baking got way more reliable

I found out that every time I used a cup for flour, the amount was different. This made my cakes dense or my cookies spread too much. Using a scale solved all my consistency problems. Most bakers don't want to hear this, but cups are holding you back.

Hold on, you switched flour and your bread got better. That doesn't mean the mill lied. Maybe your starter just changed at the same time, or your kitchen temp was different. I've seen weather mess with my dough more than anything. They've been milling for years, why would they risk their name over protein numbers? You got one bad result and wrote off a whole local business. Seems like a jump.

Ugh, I have to totally disagree with that advice. It sounds like a cute saying but it sets people up for a huge mess. @tarashah, that first draft is going to be so much harder to fix if you just throw any words on the page. You need some clear thinking from the start, or you're just creating more work for yourself later. A little planning saves a ton of editing time.
