Did it make a sound when it hit your glasses or just a blur?

Yeah the vinegar and water mix is a solid move for cleaning the gunk out. One thing I learned the hard way is not to go crazy with the lubricant afterwards, because too much of it just attracts more dirt and you're back to square one in a few months. Just a quick spray on the moving parts does it. Also, check the springs while you're at it, because if those are going bad, the noise comes back fast. Mine looked fine but had a tiny crack I almost missed.
