Thought the bone pit at the gravel quarry was just old trash, then a buddy showed me the cut marks
Three months ago my buddy Dale dragged me out to a gravel quarry near Hoxie, Kansas where crews kept pulling up big animal bones. I figured it was just a old bison dump and told him so. Then he flipped one over and showed me deep V shaped grooves right at the joint, the kind you only get from stone tools prying meat loose. Now I'm the one out there every weekend with a hand lens, and we've tagged 14 bones so far. Anybody else run into butchered bone by accident on private land?
