Tbh, a sci-fi series changed how I see office politics
Honestly, I was in a rough spot with my team lead over some project goals. Things got tense, and I remembered a plot from that show about space colonies where leaders had to compromise. Tbh, it hit me that we were acting like rival factions instead of one crew. Ngl, I brought up the idea in our next chat, comparing our situation to the show. It actually helped us find common ground and move forward. Now I'm thinking about other sci-fi stories that relate to daily job stuff. Has anyone pulled ideas from fiction to fix real team issues? What shows or books helped you?

Comparing work to space colonies seems like a real stretch. Most people would just roll their eyes if you brought that up in a meeting.

Honestly, if someone started talking about space colonies in a meeting, I'd probably tune out too. It's like they're trying to sound deep but just end up confusing everyone. I mean, comparing spreadsheets to Martian habitats is a BIT much. Most of us are just trying to get through the day without wild metaphors. Save the space talk for sci-fi movies, not budget reviews. But hey, at least it's more fun than listening to another slide on quarterly reports.

Maybe they're just desperate to make the meeting matter. If your work feels important enough, you don't need space metaphors.
