Garlic overload ruined my chance at a second date
I cooked a nice meal for someone I really liked, but I put too much garlic in the mashed potatoes. They said they liked it, but then texted later that their breath smelled for two whole days. We haven't talked since, and I feel pretty silly about it.

When they said their breath smelled for two days, that's a red flag for how much garlic you used. Garlic that strong can overpower any meal and stick around forever. If they stopped talking to you over mashed potatoes, maybe they weren't that into you to begin with. People get weird about food mistakes, but it's just cooking, not a character test. You can always use less garlic next time, but don't beat yourself up over it. Some folks are too picky for their own good.

Yeah, and sometimes people latch onto small stuff like too much garlic when they're looking for an easy way out. It's easier to blame the cooking than admit they just didn't feel a connection. So don't stress over the potatoes, it probably wasn't about the food at all.
