Switched from a single bucket to a three-bucket system for my roses
For years I just used one big bucket of water and flower food for all my incoming roses. About six months ago, after a bad batch of wilted 'Freedom' roses, I set up three separate buckets: one for cleaning stems, one with a strong food mix for the first drink, and a final bucket with a light mix for display. The change was huge. My roses now last a full week longer for clients, and the stems stay firm. Has anyone else tried splitting their processing water, or am I just making extra work for myself?

What's in the strong mix?

My 'Queen Elizabeth' stems were mush until I did the same thing. I use a double dose of the packet stuff in the first bucket, which is exactly what @sullivan.abby is asking about. The extra step is totally worth it.

Doesn't everything work better when you stop halfassing it and actually go all in?
