My wholesale cooler gave out on a Friday before a big wedding order
The compressor failed around 6 PM last Friday, right after I'd taken delivery of $800 worth of peonies and garden roses. I had to move everything into my personal fridge and a neighbor's spare unit to keep it from spoiling. What's the best emergency backup plan you all have for cooler failure?

Honestly, why rely on a backup plan after the fact? Isn't the real lesson here to have a service contract that guarantees same day emergency repairs? I had a similar scare last year and decided the monthly fee is just part of the cost of doing business. Moving flowers to a home fridge is a huge risk for temperature changes. A good contract gets a tech to you in a couple hours, which beats any makeshift cooling setup.

My friend's flower shop tried the home fridge trick during a summer blackout. Her whole batch of orchids got that weird limp look from the temp swings. The repair guy showed up the next morning, but the damage was already done. She lost way more in dead stock than a service contract would have cost for a whole year. Sometimes a couple hours is all it takes for things to go really wrong. Watching her deal with that mess was honestly heartbreaking.

Doubt it's that big a deal for most people. A home fridge works fine in a pinch if you keep the door shut. That service contract money is better spent on a backup mini-fridge you own.
