TIL my crew in Boise thinks I'm nuts for using a 6-inch knife to cut vinyl plank
Last week on a 1200 sq ft job, I cut every single piece with my old utility knife and a straight edge, no saw at all. Anyone else find a saw kicks up too much dust and slows you down on that material?

Dang, that's a fair question. Does the scoring method actually hold up on the really long planks or do you end up fighting with them to get a straight break?

Yeah, I read a flooring forum where a guy said he switched to just scoring and snapping after his miter saw filled the room with that fine plastic dust. He claimed it was faster once you get the feel for it, no stopping to clear the blade or vacuum lines. Do you find you get a cleaner break on the longer planks that way?
