Warning: My closing costs came in $4,200 over the estimate
I got my final closing disclosure last Thursday and the total was $18,750. My loan officer's initial estimate back in January was around $14,500. The big shocker was a $1,800 'adjustment' to the title insurance premium that nobody mentioned until the end. I had to scramble to move money from my emergency fund just to cover the gap. Has anyone else had a last-minute fee pop up that threw their whole budget off?

A $1,800 "adjustment" is just their polite way of saying they forgot a whole other bill. My closing had a $500 courier fee that I'm pretty sure was for a guy on a gold-plated bicycle.
