Serious question, my fermentation station lid blew off from gas buildup
Honestly, I had a scary moment with my sauerkraut jar last night. Tbh, I forgot to burp it for a few days, and the pressure built up too much. Ngl, when the lid shot off, it sprayed brine everywhere in my kitchen. I know someone who had a similar issue with their kombucha setup, and it ruined their batch. This isn't just messy, it can lead to broken glass or spoiled ferments if you're not careful. So, please make sure to check your airlocks or release gas often. It's a small thing that can prevent big problems.

So did you at least taste test the ceiling brine?

My old place in Chicago had a leak above the kitchen sink once. I mean, I didn't exactly taste the drip, but I did catch some on my finger and sniffed it. It smelled like rust and wet plaster, which idk maybe it's just me but that's kinda like ceiling brine. Blake428, your question made me remember that nasty smell. I ended up calling the landlord because it turned out to be a pipe issue, and the whole ceiling had to be replaced. The repair guy said it was mostly mineral buildup from years of hard water, which I guess is what brine is, right?
