Still frustrated about that gate post alignment nightmare

I spent 4 hours trying to get a double gate post perfectly plumb on a sloped yard in Birmingham last month. Everyone says to just use a string line and a level, but the slope kept throwing my measurements off by almost 2 inches. I ended up having to dig the hole 3 times deeper and brace it with extra gravel before it finally held. Has anyone else dealt with gates sagging on an uneven grade like that?

Nah, you're overthinking it, just use a longer level.

You ever try that with one of those old bubble levels that are all scratched up? lol I did once on a deck job and the thing was so beat up I couldn't even see the bubble right. Ended up just eyeballing it and it came out way more crooked than I'd like to admit. That's why I just stick to a 2-footer now and check it like five times.
