Switched my draping style after a tailor's blunt remark
A tailor at a local shop told me my gathers looked like 'angry caterpillars' (ouch). I changed from pinching fabric to using a grommet-based grid for pleating, and the line work came out so much cleaner. Anyone else had a comment that made you totally rework a technique?

Whoa, grommets are great but don't they risk tearing your fabric if you're not careful?

Nah, I gotta disagree a little bit. The fabric tearing thing is mostly about using the wrong grommet size or rushing the job. If you match the grommet to the fabric weight and use a proper setting tool, it's actually pretty tough to mess up. I've put hundreds in canvas and denim without a single tear. Just take the extra 30 seconds to reinforce the area with some interfacing or an extra layer and you're golden.
