Just figured out why my garment seams kept puckering

I tried using a size 11 needle on heavy denim for weeks and got mad at the results. Swapped to a size 16 needle yesterday and the stitches laid flat instantly. Anyone else fight with needle sizes way longer than they should?

Same thing happened to me with thread tension on knits. Spent a month adjusting everything except the needle size.

Needle size changes everything with knits because the wrong one just pushes the fabric down instead of piercing it cleanly. It's usually the thing people try last when it should be the first fix.
