Blew a button hole on a vintage 1940s dress in my kitchen last Tuesday
I was trying to finish a dress for my mom and the button hole foot slipped on my old Singer, ripping the fabric right by the collar. Frantic, I grabbed a matching scrap from my stash and patched it with a hand stitch that actually looks intentional now, but has anyone else had to completely rework a design after a machine mishap?

Honestly, patching it with a hand stitch is the best save I've seen.

Used to think hand stitches were just a temporary fix but that post totally flipped my mind. Looks cleaner than most machine work I've seen honestly.
