Belt loops going diagonal on my latest jeans pattern
Was cutting denim at my kitchen table in Austin last Tuesday. The belt loops kept twisting sideways no matter how I pressed the seams. Anyone else run into this when using heavy weight fabric on a home machine?

...and here I was thinking my sewing machine was trying to teach me calligraphy with those loops. Could be your presser foot is struggling to feed that thick denim evenly, happens to me with anything over 12 oz. A walking foot or even adjusting your presser foot pressure might level things out a bit.

Yeah that "calligraphy" line hit home lol. Heavy denim on a home machine is a nightmare for belt loops especially. Try running a test strip through with a piece of tissue paper under your presser foot first, it helps the fabric slide instead of bunching. Also make sure you're using a brand new denim needle, a dull one will push the fabric sideways instead of piercing clean. I had to set my stitch length to 4 just to get through 14 oz without the machine trying to eat the loop.
